What Up, Buttercup? (Copy)

Many artists are inspired by what they see. Whether it be a beautiful person, a still life construction, or an instant where nature is caught creating a magical moment.

Each of these elicits in us a feeling. A need to bond and/or recreate that which we find beautiful or magical.

In this moment in history, the beauty we spent eons surrounding ourselves with is slowly diminishing. It is becoming harder and harder to gain access to that which we once freely strolled out onto in the last century.

Life is ever changing. Things that are available to us one day, are gone the next. As artists we know this intuitively. And that is what drives us to create work that invokes a memory and lives beyond the present moment.

I lived near a marsh for a long time. It was lush and green and my life was riding on a brilliant swell. I painted it often then, and I paint it still, to remember the feeling I had when my life felt grounded and secure, and I had time to lie on the grass and take it all in.
